Children wishing to attend our school are eligible for admission as follows:

Children who were born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 can start primary school from September 2025 (the beginning of the academic year after their 4th birthday).

Children who were born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 can start primary school from September 2024 (the beginning of the academic year after their 4th birthday).

Children who were born between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019 can start primary school from September 2023. Please follow the link below to see the latest admissions information from Shropshire Council. 

You are very welcome to visit our school by prior arrangement with our head teacher. We invite children to attend a few sessions prior to admission to allow teachers to get to know the children and their capabilities as part of a small group. In this way the children make a more secure and speedy start to their school learning.

Our school admission number is 29 per year group. 

Nationally Infant (Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) class sizes are capped to 30 pupils per class, however there are specific exceptions to this rule, please contact school or the LA admissions team for more information. 

Hodnet is a popular school and over the past few years the number of applications in some year groups has exceeded our pupil admissions number. In these circumstances the Local Authority admissions policy and appeal procedure can be actioned. As a school we manage our own in-year applications, parents can contact us if they would like a place, although the first application to school in Reception still have to be processed by the LA.
