Children who were born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 can start primary school from September 2020 (the beginning of the academic year after their 4th birthday).
You are very welcome to visit the school by prior arrangement with the head teacher. We invite children to attend a few sessions prior to admission to allow teachers to get to know the children and their capabilities as part of a small group. In this way the children make a more secure and speedy start to their school learning.
The school admission number is 29 per year group.
Hodnet is a popular school and over the past few years the number of applications in some year groups has exceeded this number. In these circumstances the Local Authority admissions policy and appeal procedure apply. From September 2013 schools will be able to take in-year applications directly from parents (although first application to school in Reception and Year 6 to Year 7 applications will still have to be processed by the LA). If you have any admission queries, please call the school in the first instance.
Mid term Admissions
For applications other than beginning of Reception or Secondary transfers: from September 2013 the regulations changed for mid-term or “in-year” applications and local authorities no longer have to co-ordinate applications. To move your child(ren) to Hodnet School you should contact the school to enquire about places and complete the Mid-Term Application Form and send it to Hodnet School below.
